On the Way Home from a Walk, the Two of Them Were Walking at the Same Pace.

On the way home from an evening walk.

Pushing the stroller, I happened to glance to the side—
and there they were, my child and our dog,
walking at almost the same pace.

No one taught them to do it.
Neither one was trying to match the other.
They were just naturally in the same rhythm.

I remember thinking,
"They kind of look like siblings."

There are no conversations between a child and a dog.

But without words,
they seem to close the distance in other ways.

The child watches the dog's expressions closely.
The dog gradually gets used to the child's movements.

That slow accumulation
quietly turns into "being together is just normal."

Before you know it, they've become something like siblings.
